The showdown between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov is less than fifty days away and with so little time on the clock, both fighters are hard at work at their relative training camps in order to be in tip-top condition for the bout. The history-making fight will be one of the biggest in history and is set to smash pay per view records.

McGregor’s long-awaited return to the UFC after a sideshow in the world of boxing will not be a picnic, but that hasn’t stopped the Irishman from having a bit of fun on social media. His playful post throughout the week shows him taunting his sparring partner Peter Queally. Covered in sweat and looking like a gladiator, McGregor’s post is captioned “F*** hands up” with reference to his ability to still inflict a beating without his hands at the ready.

The picture could be a precursor to what will happen in the cage at UFC 229. You could imagine the uproar that would follow if McGregor showed Khabib the disrespect of having his hands behind his back or similar. Despite being known more as a wrestler than a striker, Nurmagomedov is still a dangerous prospect on his feet and Conor would be well-reminded to be ready for anything!

Striking coach, Owen Roddy reckons that Conor has Khabib seriously covered. He said: “Conor lands on the chin and puts him to sleep. I always give his opponent the benefit of the doubt because some people are tough and can take more shots than others, but it’s only a matter of time,”
